Moss Agate is a semi-translucent mineral which has natural greenish veining pattern inclusions. The natural mineral is inherently unstable & difficult to work with, thus conventional machining will not work as when the abrasive agent makes contact with the mineral it will tear away at the inclusions rather than polishing it to a fine finish. The only way to machine this material perfectly is to employ an abrasive suspended in a liquid. The process takes an exceptionally long time (1mm of abrasion per hour), but yields an immaculate surface quality and delivers the desired dimensions with absolute precision (1/100ths of a mm). This watch also gives a nod to the past - the use of the pendulum to measure time can be traced back to Galileo.
